Create amazing mythical creatures in these fun drawing, painting and sculpture projects. There are monsters, dragons and unicorns to make and sculpt, a beautiful pegasus from marbled paper and a fun undewater mermaid to draw.
Mythical Creatures for Kindergraten, Grade 1 and Grade 2
Mythical creatures for Kindergarten, grade 1 and grade 2. In these lesson plans students will have fun painting friendly monsters in a dice throwing, painting game. We look at a sweet underwater mermaid and create a gorgeous unicorn artwork with a rainbow wool mane.
Children will learn about colour and paint application as well as how to create patterns and textures on painted paper to make wonderful artworks. They will learn about shape, line, repetition, colour and pattern. Students will learn about fantasy creatures that feature in myths and legends.
Mythical Creatures for Grades 3 and 4
Mythical creatures for grades 3 and 4. Students will have fun playing a monster drawing game to inspire and give them ideas for drawing their own monsters. This lesson plan can be used individually or as a starting point for a monster sculpture. Use the drawing as a plan for the monster sculpture and create a creature using balled up newspaper, tape and some papier mache. Paint and add features to the little monster to complete this 3D project.
Students will enjoy the monster drawing game and be inspired to draw a monster from their own imagniation. They will learn construction techniques with a focus on 3D sculpture to complete a stunning artwork. We will used mixed media with drawing, painting, and textile elements to create the final piece.
Mythical Creatures for Grades 5 and 6
Mythical creatures for grade 5 and 6. Students can learn how to create a dragon artwork with 3D modelling elements. There are lots of popular children’s book series about dragons that will link in welll with this project. In this artwork students will focus on texture and pattern to create a skin like rendering of a dragon. Students choose a colour scheme and can draw their own dragon or use the outline provided. Fine details and patterns will be added with paint pens to the eye is created in a modelling medium such as Model Magic with a cabochon eye for a realistic look.
We also have an enchanting pegasus to create using an easy marbled paper technique with acrylic paint. Students will have fun swirling paint to create interesting patterns and then dip their paper to lift off a stunning marbled paper. We’ll cut out the pegasus and and add drawing details with metallic paint pens or markers to complete the artwork.
