The Artists and Culture (ACE) Art Curriculum
The Creative Kids Art Lessons ACE Curriculum is a fun way for teachers to introduce their students to artists and cultures, looking at art from different countries and different times in history. It is a full year of art curriculum lesson plans meeting all the art elements that are specified, by year group for Kindergarten to Year 6.
Students are introduced to a range of famous artists and styles, including Monet and Van Gogh, and some they might not have heard of such as Berthe Morisot and Mary Cassatt.

In these complete art curriculum lesson plans, students experiment with an amazing variety of media and techniques from simple drawing and collage projects to clay and mixed media artworks. The ACE curriculum provides an excellent balance of short, simple projects that can be achieved in a one-hour lesson, to more in-depth projects, which can be completed over several weeks. The curriculum has been organised to suit elementary or primary year levels, including separate curriculum details for Kindergarten to Year 2, Years 3-4 and Years 5-6. Each unit has at least 8 hours of art for K-2, 3-4 and 5-6 students.
Below is a sneak peek of one of the lesson plans – the Gareth Lucas-inspired toucan artwork from the Ecuador and Peru unit! There’s a step-by-step lesson plan with images of each process as well as written instructions. There is also an artist information sheet and the artwork by Gareth Lucas that inspired the project. There are templates you can use with younger students and curriculum details as well as assessment rubrics.
The ACE art curriculum will help teachers plan for a specific year or age group or the full range from Kinder to year 6. Both teachers and students will have fun with this curriculum, exploring the world around them through the visual arts! Art materials lists to use for your yearly budget planning are provided for each year group and for teaching the full K-6 curriculum.
